Maja Mrkoci is Chief Content and Innovation Officer at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. In this role, she works closely with public media’s national organizations, local stations and independent content producers to accelerate cultural transformation, innovation, and content creation throughout the public media system. She leads the development and implementation of CPB’s strategy for investing in innovative, creative, and diverse programming and content for national public media audiences and leads digital, innovation and technology initiatives within CPB to increase public media’s reach and sustainability for the future.
Mrkoci joined CPB in 2015 as the Vice President for Content and Digital Media and subsequently, as Vice President for Digital Innovation her role expanded to include a new portfolio of digital initiatives. In 2017, she was promoted to Senior Vice President, Television Programming and Innovation.
Prior to joining CPB, Mrkoci worked at PBS, where, as Director of Business Development, she established partnerships for PBS’s digital ventures with companies including Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung, Comcast, Verizon and more. She also led the PBS/PBS KIDS digital distribution onto Over The Top (OTT) platforms.
Mrkoci held several other roles at PBS during her nine-year tenure. Her contributions extended into strategic planning, digital content and product development.
Earlier in her career, Mrkoci worked at Discovery Communications. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Mrkoci has served as a board member and chair of the development committee of the non-profit organization Docs in Progress.
