Through the power of storytelling and youth voices, CPT12 is giving vulnerable young people the opportunity to find their voice and learn skills in workshops that appeal to them. We’ve held digital storytelling, spoken word poetry, photojournalism and audio engineering/music creation workshops for students in the Denver Public Schools’ GED Plus program. Through these opportunities, students have expressed their creativity and learned to craft visual, video, spoken word and musical narratives of their struggles to get to graduation. Alongside them, CPT12 has documented these young people, full of promise and potential, and we’re presenting the stories to our community to inspire action toward solutions. Our goal is to bring more people into the tent to become mentors, volunteers or simply to support the youth organizations that are hands-on helping youth at risk.
CPT 12 along with KSJD-FM and KUVO-FM are addressing issues that would improve youth outcomes throughout the state.
