Cleveland will have two key events this January to engage its community around keeping youth on the path to graduation and success.

On Jan. 20, American Graduate hub station ideastream in collaboration with Cleveland Schools will celebrate students and Champions in connection with their storytelling contest.

The station hosted a storytelling competition through the end of 2015 focused around the challenges students face that could cause them to drop out and the Champions who supported them to stay on track.

Of 160 written, artistic and video entries, the top 30 will be honored, with the top 5 awarded prize money and scholarships.

The following week, ideastream in partnership with Third Federal Savings and Loan and the Levin College of Urban Affairs will host the first of a series of forums around growing a healthy community.

The Jan. 25 event will focus on the key practices and benefits of community partnerships to garner success in the education.

Civic Enterprises CEO John Bridgeland will serve as the keynote speaker alongside several distinguished officials of the community, such as Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon.
