Next week, people across the country will celebrate the joy of cuddling up with a good book and reading.

Read Across America Day is a nationwide celebration for reading and also coincides with the birthday, March 2, for one of the biggest advocates for reading – Dr. Seuss.

Each year, the National Education Association honors the national event with events, book lists and activities set on getting kids to read.

“This year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources,” according to the NEA’s website.

Schools, libraries and other community entities will host educational events across the country, which can be found here.

The NEA also has a number of book lists that make good reads for children: Book lists
