Almost 1,000 leaders, advocates, researchers and mentors will gather at the National Mentoring Summit in Washington D.C. to explore furthering the power of mentoring to youth across the country.

Several sessions throughout the summit will relate to the theme “Expanding the Mentoring Effect,” which looks how mentoring tied to a number of settings can help youth.

The three-day event will feature a number of officials and leaders who are dedicated to developing mentorship for youth, including former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, former U.S. Sentator Mary Landrieu and Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Linda Lane.

American Graduate celebrates mentors & their contributions to improving the lives of youth as a part of our champions’ initiative.

During our American Graduate Day 2014 coverage, we highlighted and saluted a number of mentors throughout the United States, including:

Ryan Devlin, Brockway, Pa. (WPSU)

Godfrey Saunders, Bozeman, MT (Montana PBS)

DeAngelo Mack, Sacramento, Calif. (KVIE)
